Beginning Applique Techniques: Tea Towel with Pumpkin



WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

Applique is such a fun and creative way to embellish just about anything, and with your sewing machine, it is also quick and easy. Here is what you will learn:How to do a quick and easy turned edge appliqué. Raw edge applique so the edge will fringe. Blanket stitch raw edge applique - fused so it will not unravel. Satin stitch applique.

YOUR SUPPLY LIST (WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING):

 

  • Machine in GOOD WORKING order *
  • Open toe/applique foot if you have one (you may want to bring all your feet and experiment with different ones)*
  • New needles (Schmetz Universal 75 or 80)*
  • Good quality bobbin thread *
  • Extra bobbin*
  • Sharp small scissors*
  • Pins*
  • Seam gauge*
  • Seam ripper*
  • Fabric marking pen *
  • Pinking shears or pinking rotary cutter (optional)*
  • Any other notions you like to use

THE KIT WILL INCLUDE:
  • Tea towel
  • Fabrics for the pumpkin
  • tulle
  • Heat n bond (for fusing your pieces onto the towel)
  • threads to match
  • Stabilizer
