Quilting Embroidery Sewing and Serging Club (AKA Q.E.S.S. Club) 2022

This quarter in our monthly Q.E.S.S. Club you will be learning about some stash busting quilt patterns and techniques, how to choose the best quilting design that will enhance your quilt, and various types of binding and binding techniques.  Rulers, templates, the different types of walking feet, other types of specialty feet, embroidery hoops, quilting techniques, battings, and designing your own quilting designs are just a few of the topics that will be covered in the Quilting portion of the Q.E.S.S. Club.  As you ‘come and learn’ then ‘go and sew’, you will be mastering techniques as you create your own quilt.  If you do not want to make a quilt, you can always use your creations for other projects such as garments, bags, and home décor; this club is all about learning and mastering new techniques.

Come and Learn, Go and Sew

APRIL: Learn about a variety of Quilt designs (for both yardage and scrap fabric) using an assortment of templates as well as some crumb quilting techniques.  Borders or no borders.  The different types of walking feet (yes, there is a difference), and other specialty feet to make your piecing easier, faster, and more accurate.

MAY: Which batting would be best for your quilt.  Determining the type of quilting to use on your quilt to enhance your quilt design and not detract, but also taking into account the type of batting you will be using.  Different ways to quilt your quilt from free motion, in the hoop (and the various types of hoops available), stitch in the ditch, to using a long arm machine.  How to design and create your own unique quilting design which you can then use with free motion quilting or digitize to use with your embroidery machine. The types of sprays, pins, powders, and battings that are available to hold your quilt together as you quilt

JUNE: Happy endings!  How to square up your quilt now that it has been quilted, then exploring the many types of bindings and the multiple ways to attach your bindings.  Specialty feet, needles, and other notions to help make your quilt spectacular.
