Skill Level: Beginner; ages 14 and up
What you will learn:
In this five-session course, participants will learn new techniques to build upon their basic sewing knowledge and create a sampler quilt top. Each class will grow upon the prior week, and participants will leave each class with an assignment to complete at home. Topics will cover selection of fabric and quilting tools (and why quality matters); quilting math and terminology; how to use a rotary cutter and measure with rulers; sewing an accurate quarter-inch seam; piecing; block assembly, pressing, layout, and design options. Finishing the quilt top (basting, quilting, and binding) is a separate class that will be scheduled in the fall.
Please do not buy generic items online or at a discount store without first understanding the purpose of their use. Poor quality supplies and tools will be frustrating to work with, and you will get discouraged from quilting. Good quality supplies and tools will make your learning experience easy, productive, and FUN!
