Sewing 101: I have a machine, now what?

Class is on July 17th OR 20th at 1:00pm - 4:00pm

You will learn the difference between a knit and woven fabric. For woven fabrics, you will learn what grain, cross grain, and bias means, what they are, and why they are important. You will also learn about the different types of needles, when to use which type and why. I will also explain some of the basics of thread (type, weight, etc.) and how this affects tension. Since this is an online class, I will simply show you some basic maintenance and correct sewing techniques. In the future when we can safely meet in larger groups, I will have a class where you will bring in your machine and learn how to thread your machine, do basic maintenance on your machine, trouble shoot problems you may be having with your machine, basic sewing terminology, basic sewing (seams, topstitching, stay stitching, curves, etc. ) as well as other hints to help you with your sewing goals.
