Leave with an understanding of how textiles are made, what materials they are made of, and how they can best be used in your sewing adventures. Participants will receive their very own reference swatch book, filled with swatches of different textiles, and useful information about them.

Specializing in evening wear, intricate hand embellishments and costume design, Shannon Melick recently graduated from Pratt Institute with a Bachelors in Fine Art for Fashion Design. She recently completed a collection inspired by eight powerful women in the Bible. Shannon is currently striving towards her goal of designing athletic costumes for figure skaters, rythmic gymnasts and ballroom dancers.
