Here at Berger's we offer a wide variety of sewing classes. Don't see something you like, simply call and ask, we are more than happy to make a class around what YOU want to learn. Whether you are new to sewing or an old pro just looking for some fun and new crafting projects. Check back often to see what's New!

CLASS FULL - Intro to Quilting: Sampler Quilt Top - CLASS FULL

Want to expand your sewing skills and learn how to accurately measure, cut, piece and assemble a quilt? This 5-week, hands-on class will help you understand the tools and techniques used in basic quilt construction, and show you how to accurately measure, cut and piece your fabric to make nine different quilt blocks, which will become your own sampler quilt top. Finishing the quilt top (backing, basting, quilting, and binding) is a separate class that is offered several times a year.

Embellishing fabric with your Coverstitch or Top Cover stitch machine

This 3-week class covers various techniques to embellish fabrics with decorative threads, ribbons, tapes, and yarns. You’ll practice techniques in class, prepare your fabric for cutting, and complete the final project at home.

Have a sewing machine and not sure how to use it? Want to save money and make or modify your own clothes? This hands-on class will teach you all you ever needed to begin sewing and also how to maintain your machine. Our goal is “frustration free” sewing and building core sewing skills. Learn these life skills while creating a personalized apron.

How to register for classes?
  • Call the Store to register by phone (703) 368-7169
  • Buy via PayPal online or on our website
  • Stop by the store to see us!


What should I bring to class?

  • If you are doing a one on one or private lesson please speak with the instructor to determine what types of materials you will be needing for your class.
  • Group classes will have materials list on the website under the class description.
  • Email instructor if you have any questions. (Contact info is located at the bottom of the specific class)


What if there is a storm or inclement weather?
  • If there is a storm or weather is preventative of safe travel for either our teachers or our students, the class will be rescheduled for the next convenient safe date.
  • No refunds on classes. Classes will be rescheduled or a credit will be issued.
  • If Prince William County Schools are closed, classes are canceled for that day.
**For weather related events we will contact you if classes are cancelled. If you have any question about the class being held please email bergertime2014@gmail.com or call 703 368-7169.**



What are the classroom policies?
  • All Machines used in the classroom should be in good working order before the day of your lesson. (If you are unsure of the condition of your machine, simply bring it in for a going over 2 weeks before your class.
  • Registration for class is the only way to reserve a spot. Once registered, no refund will be issued.
  • Private lessons are $65 an hour, and are scheduled on a one on one basis. Please call the store for availability and times.

What if I am late or I miss a class?
  • No-shows will not be made up and  payment is forfeited.
  • If you are late, the time will not be made up.
  • Please do not be tardy.
  • Arriving fifteen minutes early for scheduled appointment is optimum.

What clubs do you offer?
  • IQ Designer Club - Unlock the full potential of your IQ Designer with this new club for machines like Destiny, Meridian, Altair, Solaris, Radiance, and similar models. Through lecture and demonstrations, you'll explore every IQ Designer icon, gain valuable insights, and leave with optional homework to practice at home. Bring your questions, ideas, and enthusiasm—no machines needed!


What dates do the clubs meet?
  • IQ Designer Club - 3rd Saturday of every month @ 10am - 12pm


How much do the clubs cost?
  • IQ Designer Club Clubs is $199 for the calendar year.
