Here at Berger's we offer a wide variety of sewing classes. Don't see something you like, simply call and ask, we are more than happy to make a class around what YOU want to learn. Intro To Sewing

Have a sewing machine and not sure how to use it? Want to save money and make or modify your own clothes? This hands-on class will teach you all you ever needed to begin sewing and also how to maintain your machine. Our goal is “frustration free” sewing and building core sewing skills. Learn these life skills while creating a personalized apron.

My Favorite Apron Project Class

Already know how to sew and use your machine, but want a fun and one-of-a-kind gift for someone special? For the first time, we are offering Christina’s “My Favorite Apron” as a project class! Choose a primary fabric and an accent fabric to create this fun to sew (and fun to wear) apron, featuring an adjustable necktie, gathered waistline, and pockets that is designed to fit every body shape and size. This class is for confident beginners, and will include homework assignments, so plan accordingly.

Class registration ends 3 days prior to the class for teacher preparation.  A minimum of 2 participants is required for the class to be held.  If there are not enough people registered, a credit will be given. How to register for classes?
  • Call the Store to register by phone (703) 368-7169
  • Buy via PayPal online or on our website
  • Stop by the store to see us!


What should I bring to class?

  • If you are doing a one on one or private lesson please speak with the instructor to determine what types of materials you will be needing for your class.
  • Group classes will have materials list on the website under the class description.
  • Email instructor if you have any questions. (Contact info is located at the bottom of the specific class)


What if there is a storm or inclement weather?
  • If there is a storm or weather is preventative of safe travel for either our teachers or our students the class will be rescheduled for the next convenient safe date. No refunds on classes. Classes will be rescheduled or a credit will be issued. 
  • If Prince William County Schools are closed, classes are canceled for that day.


What are the classroom policies?
  • All Machines used in the classroom should be in good working order before the day of your lesson. (If you are unsure of the condition of your machine, simply bring it in for a going over 2 weeks before your class.
  • Registration for class is the only way to reserve a spot. Once registered, no refund will be issued.
  • Private lessons are $65 an hour, and are scheduled on a one on one basis. Please call the store for availability and times.

What if I am late or I miss a class?
  • No-shows will not be made up and  payment is forfeited.
  • If you are late, the time will not be made up.
  • Please do not be tardy.
  • Arriving fifteen minutes early for scheduled appointment is optimum.

What clubs do you offer?
  • Berger's Serger Club will consist of demonstrations of various Serging techniques as well as how to apply these techniques to a variety of sewing situation.

  • Berger's Sew Inspired Club will consist of demonstrations of various sewing techniques as well as how to apply these techniques to a variety of sewing situation.

  • Berger's Embroidery and IQ Designer Club will be exploring all things to do with embroidery and the IQ designer. Our machines are so powerful, and most of us only use just a small portion of what they are capable of doing, so what better way to dig into all that your machine has to offer than to join our embroidery and IQ community?

  • Serger Club - 3rd Saturday of every month @ 10am - 11:30am
  • Sew Inspired Club - Tuesday AFTER the 3rd Saturday of every month @ 10am - 11:30am
  • Embroidery & IQ Designer Club - Tuesday AFTER the 3rd Saturday of every month @ noon - 1:30pm

  • Clubs are $100 each or $250 for all three clubs:

What do you do with those cute little pre-cut charm packs? Turn them into a fun table runner! Grab a pack in your favorite colors, and you will learn about color placement and how to make accurate half-square triangles, as well as other construction, quilting and finishing techniques. This 2-part class will require some homework, so please come prepared for each session. Your completed table runner will make you a fan of pre-cuts and have you making all kinds of projects for decorating and gifting.

Sweet Tooth - Block of the Month

This block of the month program is great for those participants who are wanting to complete a quilt top but need the guidance of monthly meetings to help keep you on track. My goal is to keep you motivated each month by helping you learn the strategies and tools for cutting and sewing that will help you be successful.
